Halls Gap is the main tourist hub in the heart of the Grampians. The picturesque town is set in the Fyans Valley at the foot of the of Wonderland and Mount William ranges and is the perfect place from which to explore the Grampians National Park, one of Victoria’s most outstanding natural features.

From the local village stores, the taste tempting wineries and the colourful galleries, to the majesty of the Grampians National Park, with its wildflowers and waterfalls, Halls Gap is the heart of this region.
Equipment: Nikon D300, Sigma 10-20mm lens
Technique: HDR = 5 bracketted raw images processed with Photomatix Pro saved as a Tiff then a light cleanup in Nikon Capture NX

Hi Phillip, well you have won me on this one! I have not visited this area, however, in SA the start of the Flinders Ranges has a similar feel. Flat and featureless land leading up to the base of the hills. Normally though photos are not particularly exciting-
looking flat or blown out-what am I photographing the sky and clouds or the ranges. The HDR effect here as allowed the full depth of the image to shine. I am really impressed with this one! Will start to look at my surrounds in a different “light”. Cheers Heather (love the composition)catherine walker
