This shot was taken at Newport Wharf which is located on the shores of Pittwater north of Sydney. Easily accessable by car or public transport.

Its the kind of place where you can wind down at the end of the day with a cold beer or a glass of Australian Chardonnay and watch the sun set in the west..

This is my neighbourhood about 5 minutes from my home, “Just a Little Touch of Paradise.” we get some great sunsets in winter.

thanks Tom , I wandered down to the wharf when i saw the clouds forming. I believe it was 5 bracketted images hand held … well i rested the camera on pylons of the wharf. The colour was amazing, i like the way the reflections play off the water

indeed. we do….However our house is up against a mountain to the west of us so we never get to see a sunset….Only sunrises….

what model camera do you use, you can do it manually but each shot has to be manually set

nice camera , check your manual for a function called auto braketting . its a good place to start. i shoot only raw. Things to have to start are plenty of storage and a sturdy tripod although you can hand hold the camera but a sturdy surface is the best

Great image, do you superimpose all the bracketed images on one another to get the final effect in photoshop or is it one of the best bracketed image?

The general concensus, of most discussions on HDR that I have listened to is that although photoshop can perform HDR and there is a photomatix plugin for photoshop. That the best result is from the actual photomatix pro. . Although after the Photomatix its good to run through a product such as photoshop for a little sharpening/ contrast adjust.
My general process is to shoot RAW at max resolution and size, the files i run through photomatix in this case five files. After the tonemapping i generate one very large tiff file.
I run the final file through capture nx, perform minor adjustsments such as a light sharpen.

This shot needed very little work ,it was magic light, my opinion is HDR should enhance the shot not create something artificial, although sometimes hdr might go wrong yet still give a good but different result

What a great shot, beautiful colors, nice composition, good exposure. Just all around a nice shot. Can I ask hove you found a large difference between an HDR image with three shots, versus a shot using five and if so have you tried using more then 5 shots to produce your HYDR image.

o suppose Jamie the more exposures add to the range, i know NASA used the technology and they would take exposures in the tens of thousands
