Silence Before The Storm - Moods of A City # 28 - Sydney Australia
BEST VIEWED LARGER
THis shot was taken from Berrys Bay/ Balls Head Park on the north shore of Sydney taken on Wednesday 28th May 2008 around 5pm.
As you can see the clouds herald what is to come, the buildings are lit by pre storm light combined with the last rays of day light.
The storm that followed was quite severe with 868 recorded lightning strikes, just have to love the clouds and light.
Equipment used Nikon D300 and Nikon 18 – 200mm lens.

Silence Before The Storm - Moods of A City # 28 - Sydney Australia belongs to the following groups:
Cityscapes and Skylines, Dawn and Dusk Light, HDR Photography, Human and Nature, Landscape Photography, Lightning and Storms, Safe Haven, The Beginners' Corner and UK to Australia and BackAvailable for sale as Cards, Matted Prints, Laminated Prints, Mounted Prints, Canvas Prints, Framed Prints and Posters

Outstanding wide angle shot, Philip! The clouds and light are fabulous. I also really like the moored yachts in the foreground with the CBD in behind – recreation and work all in the one image.

Fantastic colour and mood, Philip. I can attest to the nastiness of the storm – about an hour after your shot I was sheltering under a tree calling for a lift.

Beautiful rich colours – I love shots taken at the two extremes of the day. I notice you have a liking for the panoramic format (as do I). I’m wondering if you have any thoughts on how to get around the way RB displays (ie crops) panoramics on our home pages.
Philip Johnson in reply to EnPassant’s comment, 2 months ago
I know David Lori host of the Panorama group has been trying to get RB for sometime to present panorama images properly
