I love it!! I have lost enough chess matches in my life to fully understand : ) She stands in the queens position, the most dominant piece on the board, but I can see in her face “what am I doing here? I’m just little ol’ me!”

  • Thanks a lot for your great comment, Phillip!:)

I once saw an interview with actor Jane Seymour. She was telling that between parts she used hide in her house and avoid the world a bit. ‘Because life is terrifying’, she said. Do not know why I have to think about that when I look at this artwork. I do know that the chess game of life is terrifying and the stakes are high. The woman looks vulnerable between the harshness and sternness of the chess pieces. As if she enters a cold and hostile world. I hope she finds a way to the play the game without losing her precious self. Fantastic work again.

  • I hope so too, for everyone who’s out there playing the game. Thank you, Martin!!!
