Sarah is the proprietor of LSBeez , selling premium delicious honey.
With her mother, both being accredited apiarists, they collect from their own bee-hives all around Kangaroo Island, then bottle and sell their honey online plus within various outlets around South Australia.
When not collecting and selling honey, Sarah enjoys shooting macro photography of bees and flowers around Kangaroo Island.
BTW, Sarah is Stephen Mitchell ’s better looking half!
The bees on Kangaroo Island are different from most others: Kangaroo Island is home to the purest strain of Ligurian bees.
Kangaroo Island boasts the only remaining colony of pure bred Ligurian bees. Introduced from Italy in 1884, the species has remained totally isolated after local regulators had the foresight to ban the entry of any other bees and honey products.
The geographic isolation from the mainland has also enabled the Island to remain free of several bee diseases present on mainland Australia. To maintain this protection all honey, pollen, used beekeeping tools and equipment are prohibited from being brought to the Island unless these have been certified disease-free by the Department of Primary Industries.
