A very contented Cape buffalo (Syncerus caffer) pauses to consider our intrusion into his world. Floating down the Chobe river in a small boat allowed us to quietly glide in close to his feeding ground on Sedudu island without disturbing him too much. The island situated in the middle of the Chobe river between Namibia and Botswana offers the grazing herds prime feeding even in the dry season as well as relative protection from predatory cats who would rather not cross the croc infested waters to get at them.

Although Canadian by birth, I grew up in Africa and from an early age travel became a regular part of my life. As a result I developed an early passion for my two great loves, Africa and aviation. Being fortunate to return to Africa every year with our own safari company “Explorations Africa”, all of my photos of wildlife are taken in their natural and unstaged settings.
