A male lion (Panthera leo) in the prime of his life and power surveys the vast open floodplains surrounding Kwetsani camp in the Okavango Delta. Large portions of the delta dry out as the annual influx of flood waters recede, leaving behind areas of rich grazing for the vast herds of herbivores. Where there’s good grazing there’s got to be herbivores. Where there’s herbivores, there’s got to be the ever attendant lions!
