The embodiment of mischief, vervet monkeys (Chlorocebus pygerythrus) present an image of beguiling innocence that very effectively masks the reality of the little terrors they can be!
Coming across a pair of juvenile monkeys in a bush just before sundown, I spent an extremely enjoyable few minutes with them as they cavorted through the branches, barely stopping long enough for me to grab a quick shot before they’d take off on another round of wild antics.

Although Canadian by birth, I grew up in Africa and from an early age travel became a regular part of my life. As a result I developed an early passion for my two great loves, Africa and aviation. Returning to Africa every year, all of my photos of wildlife are taken in their natural and unstaged settings.

speaking of monkeys, my grandfather was a seaman in the english navy and he had a spider monkey for a pet, there are b/w pics of him with it onboard ship in an old album .. wish I’d known the man better and got the story… but it couldn’t have been much fun for a monkey at sea!
I’m having pictures of sea sick monkies!!!! If you corner or really scare a monkey they tend to get the runs real bad and let’s say….leave their mark on the scene. Nasty thought….rough seas….scared monkey. Heck I wouldn’t want to be within a mile of that mess!!
