Although a little gruesome to watch, it was facinating witnessing the dynamics of the natural world unfolding before our eyes.
The previous evening we’d come across a leopard and an impala herd in close proximity. Our guide had indicated that he felt sure the leopard would try to bring down one of the members of the impala herd, so we’d check the area again in the morning. Sure enough, the young leopard had succesfully bagged a male impala, but had lost it’s kill to this hyena (Crocuta crocuta). It was an amazing experience to sit and watch as the hyean used it’s incredibly powerful jaws to make quick work of the impala carcass.
