A Kudu (Tragelaphus strepsiceros) cow stands dead still in the hopes that she won’t be spotted. During the heat of the day kudu seek out shelter in the shade of thick bush in order to regulate their temperature. So effective is their camouflage that a walker may only realize they’ve stumbled across one when the kudu bounds out of the thicket while making a sharp barking sound.
