The exuberance and love of life just seemed to sparkle out of this young female leopard (Panthera pardus). Being less than 10 months old, she was still too young to join her mother on the hunt and so was being led to the kill her mother had made for her. Despite the midday heat, she just couldn’t contain herself and constantly ambushed, lept and jumped on her very patient mother as they made their way through the thick bush. Taking a break from the heat, the mother lay down to cool off under the cover of the dense bush, but the cub would have none of it. In a flash she was up the tree and throwing herself around with a reckless abandon that paid no regard to the dizzying heights she’d climbed to. Pausing just a few moments to satisfy her youthful curiosity, she presented the perfect opportunity to capture her wild beauty before playfully bounding off once again.

Okavango Delta, Botswana

Although Canadian by birth, I grew up in Africa and from an early age travel became a regular part of my life. As a result I developed an early passion for my two great loves, Africa and aviation. Being fortunate to return to Africa every year with our own safari company “Explorations Africa”, all of my photos of wildlife are taken in their natural and unstaged settings.
