I came across this Vervet monkey at the end of the day just after arriving back in camp for the evening. He’s happily attacking a monkey apple with a gusto, putting his ample canines to good use. Although incredibly cute and photogenic, they can be less than congenial if we have something in our posession that they consider should be in theirs, particularly if it could be a tasty and easy meal. I once got into a furious shouting match with a vervet that had just trashed my fridge as well as relieving me of a much anticipated avacado. Although I was able to retrieve the avo, he decided he wanted it back and not being about to acquiese to his request, I threated to vigoursly lob it back at him. Luckily for me he decided to scamper off in favour of easier pickings. On later contemplation, the thought of those canines sinking into my soft flesh has since dampened my ardour for another run in with these wily scamps.
