Mokala national park is South Africa’s most recent addition to its line up of national parks and is well worth a visit. Situated in the northern cape, it’s located in the dry Kalahari region and offers an excellent variety of landscape and rare game species. Designed specifically as a refuge for rare and endangered wildlife, it hosts a great range of hard to find plains game that includes the roan, sable, tsessebbe and quagga variation of the zebra.
Captured just before the sun disappeared below the horizon, the gorgeous and rare roan antelope (Hippotragus equinus) offered us a perfect pose as we raced back to camp before gate closing time.
