Breaking for a short coffee break while on a bush walk in South Luangwa national park, I noticed this western banded snake eagle (Circaetus cinerascens) perched in the top of a tree. Being an uncommon raptor I was understandably enthusiastic about getting as many shots off as I could. It wasn’t until it took off that I realized that it had it’s breakfast of spotted bush snake in it’s talons and a great shot for the taking!
