Cresent Moon

A in the making prologue to a book I would like to write. It honestly came to me in a dream. I dismissed it at first, but over a few weeks it kept popping up. I thought ‘you know what, stuff it I’m going to write about it’ and this is what I come up with. I wasn’t sure if anyone would like it so here it goes….Please give criticism and opinions…I haven’t gone over it because I was rushed for time. So don’t pick out the obvious.

Cresent Moon belongs to the following groups:

Fantasy Art, Masterpieces: Literary Workshop, Short stories - Spherical Scriptings, Twisted Tales and WMG

Against the galling wind, she pushed her out of place hair back. Her clothes stuck to her thin frame with dear life. Emerald blazed through her dark circled eyes, keeping the fire within; not letting it be extinguished.

‘Maria where are you?’ the lone stranger murmured under the cold air.

White soft rays eluminated from the full moon, outlining the trees and buildings on the earths ground. Shadow danced with the sway of the strong winds, echoing a interreptive dance no human can ever reinterpret.

A scream echoed against the roaring wind, it lingered across the dark green eyed strangers ears. ‘Maria’ she gasped. With no delay, she ran towards were the scream emanated from.
Battling against the wind, the moon shone down on a lone girl lying under a great tree. The stranger ran to her and fell to her knees, taking her head in her heads, she raised her up towards her and cried.

‘No’ she whimpered sorrowfully. Behind the stranger a cloaked man looked upon with his nose held up high. He did not have to battle with the wind, for it was at his will. It moved around him without touching a single crinkle.
Blood dripped down from Maria’s skull down to her brow, a faint murmur was on her lips. The green eyed stranger looked down with disbelief and gulped ‘Maria’ she said, choking back the tears. Maria looked up wearily and sucked in a short breath ‘Emila…I..I’m’ Emila placed her finger on her lips, stopping Maria from talking.

Emila wrapped Maria’s arms around her neck and picked her up. Maria groaned with pain and gasped with agony. Emila held Maria up and started to walk back from whence she came from. A snicker escaped from the cloaked man ‘How humorous it is, that the human spirit is so strong. Even when broken and raped countless times’ he taunted Emila. She looked up at him and ignored him.

He looked at her with no pitty and lifted his hand up towards the moon. As the moon hit hit hand, he gribbed the air tightly, Maria choked. ‘Lets see how she likes a death in her name’ the cloaked man whispered under his breath. Emila turned around and looked at him. ‘Please dont, leave her alone’ she begged but he did not stop.

Until finally Maria breathed no more, Emila looked down at Maria and gasped. No..no..No!’ she screamed, the cloaked man tilted his head to the side and laughed. ‘It isnt so strong, the human spirit now is it ?’ he mocked, Emila gently laid Maria down on the dew covered grass. Falling to her knees Emila cried out, the cloaked figure smiled and dissapeared into the wind.

No words, no movement, only the sound of the now dying breeze and the creaking trees. Clouds covered the full moon slightly, with only a few rays shining through. Whispers and moans moved around Emila, from the forest around them. It seemed the earth was still, and crying out for the life that was lost.

Clouds moved away from the full moon and it emanated its full light away. Rays from the moon shone around Emila and the deceased Maria. A youthful woman in all white appeared before Emila, her hair down to her mid waist with various small plaits. Her white dress curled around her with the wind, her grey eyes looked down at Emila with pain.

Emila glanced up and saw the woman, her eyes red and her cheeks stained with
tears. The woman bent down and wiped away the tears, Emila watched her. ‘Here my dear’ the grey eyed woman handed her a soft satin handkerchief, Emila slowly took it from her and wiped away the remaining tears.

‘Who are you?’ Emila managed to ask between sobs. The woman smiled at Emila and placed her hand on Emila’s. ‘I am Elune, daughter of the moon Goddess’ she said calmly. Emila’s eyes opened wide with shock. Elune’s face shone with the light of a thousand stars and moons, happiness filed Emila.

Elune glanced at Maria and winced with pain. A death had been taken under her name. Rage filled within Elune’s heart, too many have taken deaths in her mothers name. This time she will finally put a stop it. She will stop him.
‘I’am sorry for you loss, but I can help’ Elune spoke in a stern tone, breaking the silence. Emila nodded ‘how?’ she asked dully.

Elune lifted her hand up to the moon and spoke under her breath. Words full of sorrow and an ancient language poured out her mouth, clicks and rolls of the tounge traveled upwards toward the full moon.
In Elune’s hand a silver necklace materialized, with a sapphire crescent moon attached. Smiling, Elune kissed the necklace ‘Thank you, Mother’ she thought.

Placing a hand on Emila’s shoulder, Emila arose and stood in front of Elune. Elune showed Emila the necklace and bowed. ‘This necklace was blessed by my mother and the spirits of this world. It holds the power and mysteries of the moon’ Elune announced with pride, taking a glimpse in of Emila’s face she continued ‘With this power comes a cost’ she emphasized subtly.

Emila nodded ‘Anything to help save Maria’ she cried. Elune nodded, Emila turned around as Elune put the necklace around Emila’s neck. The sapphire moon shone against Emila’s pale skin.

Turning around Emila faced Elune again ‘You look beautiful’ Elune noted while smiling, Emila smiled and thanked her. Elune turned her head towards Maria’s still body and walked towards her, she picked her up in her arms. ‘She will be saved, but you will have to one day fight in the name of the Goddess. It may not be in this life but you will be reincarnated until that time comes. Then when you do, Maria will be given back to you.Goodbye Emila’ Elune gracefully bowed with Maria in her arms; not flinching or struggling with her weight.

Waves of light from the moon shone around Elune and Maria, Emila watched as the Goddess arose up into the air. ‘How will I know what to do?’ Emila screamed out in confusion, but Elune and Maria were gone.

Holding the little moon in her shaking grip, a whisper from the trees licked at her ear ‘When the time comes, I will be there’
