Loose - Salts Lane & Viaduct by

Built in 1830 to a design by Thomas Telford this bridge spans the Loose Valley and was one of the first examples of a bypass. It enabled an easier route past the village of Loose on the Maidstone to Cranbrook road avoiding steep hills in each direction. It is still in use today carrying traffic 180 years on.
