St Mary The Virgin and The Holy Rood, Little Chart by

The original village church at Little Chart, Kent, UK, dedicated to St Mary the Virgin and the Holy Rood, was wrecked in 1944 by a V-1 flying bomb during World War II.

Now the ruins stand almost unnoticed on a knoll beside the road from Pluckley to Charing.

The church was originally built by the Normans and added to in the 15C.

5 exposure HDR from single RAW file shot on a Canon EOS1000D and processed in PS8.

Incredible Capture & History Dave! So sad what WW II did to the world.

  • Thanks Lee – it is but thankfully in this case only the church suffered and no lives were lost.

Been here many times on paranormal investigations, Do you know there is an ancient crypt underneath this church?. The tunnel to it is somewhere underneath the bushes :)

  • I do Neil as historically the floor caved into it and had to be rebuilt. ;-)
