Sheila and I were in Cumbria when we celebrated our anniversary on 8 October 2010. After spending the morning hiking around Cunsey with VoluntaryRanger Jamie and Tarn the terrier, we took Jamie home because he ostensibly had other plans for the afternoon. But the “other plans” were a ruse, and upon arriving we were immediately joined by Jason Connolly and Gary Kenyon who appeared as if out of nowhere. (Actually, they came from Lancashire by car and could properly be called “deux ex machina.”) Sheila was surprised and delighted to meet them, as can be seen in this photo taken immediately after their arrival. All five of us and Tarn then spent a couple of hours, and countless gigapixels, wandering the streets and pondering the sights of Backbarrow. Good times and laughter are fortunately not diminished by overindulgence.
