Secrets of Surface Tension, pigment ink on paper by

Abstract Landscape, All done with a fine point 005 “micron Pigma” Pen on smooth bond paper. The linework is finer than typical screen resolution can display, so please zoom!

Surface Tension is a property related to the cohesive energy of a liquid. There are forces between the molecules that want to keep them together, and so the liquid will resist flow, spreading, and opbjects trying to break the surface. Surface tension modifiers, such as surfactants, stabilize bubbles and can modifiy wetting and spreading. The drawing is a fanciful comment on surface tension and it’s underlying causes at the macro and micro levels.

The original is roughly 9 × 13 inches.
