Ooooooo I’ve been there. One of my old houses I lived in had a garden spider nest (and they are pretty big)- I lived in terror for a few years there (checking every nook and cranny). I find little spiders quite cute after that.
I love how this captures that feeling so perfectly and its still so beautiful- the quilt I love and the little kitty (I dont know if its trying to save her or run away from the spiders too), the candle light and the moonlight outside- I think this is going to be one very COOL series :))))))) xxxx

  • ROUBLE RUST replied

The series continues… There’ll be more pretty soon. Creepy experience that you described there. Thank you !!!

    Shadow

    With Giddy Glee,
I Fell Down To My Knee,
    Did I Really See,
    What I Saw Beneath Me?

    With Trembling Hands,
Fingers That Feel Like Rubber Bands,
    I Rose Up To Stand,
Not Having So Much As A Plan.

When Out From Under The Couch,
    It Ran In A Crouch,
    Carrying A Great Big Pouch,
    Causing The Creature To Slouch.

Jumping Back, I Began To Wonder,
What This Is And If I Should Ponder,
As I Watched, It Began To Wander,
Up And Over, Then Down And Under.

I Slid My Jacket From My Shoulder,
    Second By Second Growing Bolder,
It’s Dark And Silent, Now Moving Slower,
As I Sneak To The Lamp Growing Closer.

With Shaking Fingers I Twist The Switch,
Sending Light Everywhere With A Flick,
    Nowhere Now, Does It Exist,
It Must Have Been My Shadow Playing A Trick.

I wrote this one in 2002 and since your artwork reminded me of it, I thought you might like to read it. You are bad for me, I keep looking at your talented work and want to go off and write things about murder and mayhem. Cool!

  • ROUBLE RUST replied

I love-love-love it! It’s like a song in my ears telling the story of the painting. I’m waiting for your license for the thing I ask you – these two are just meant to be together!!!!!!! I can’t thank you enough – I’m thrilled! And you can’t imagine how much inspiration you give me.

I have to admit, no matter how many times I’ve won poetry awards or hear my poetry is good, I MUST admit I will never understand it. To me they are just partial thoughts which pop into my head and with a little encouragement from my off center brain, I play with them until they become a full thought. To have what I thought would only make sense to me, touch other people, amazes me. I hope you always see my words as inspirational, cause if you do, I will always be honored.

I am so glad I had the courage to enter Rouble’s art. You create an
ominous and scary world of amazing creatures and series like
your scary “spider series.” Your ability to capture fear and
abject terror is amazing. I will be back to enjoy your Halloween
fantasies. Thanks for featuring my photo of a scene from my
Halloween villages. You would like Dr. Lunatic. I remember many books
I read about frightening creatures like “There is a nightmare under my
bed,” great for kids with nightmares and sleep terrors. I love this
style of art and I agree your illustrations would make a great book for
kids. You also have many photos that would be great for the group I
host, the healing journey on RB. I hope you add some of your
    very creative and horrifying scenes.

  • ROUBLE RUST replied

Wow I’m speechless – how can I thank you enough for your wonderful words?! I’m going right now to your group, thank you so much really, it means everything to me.

  • Julie Marks

    Julie Marks

The book name is “there is a nightmare in my closet.” I also love
Froud’s creatures like his amazing goblins and many more
books for children in the horror genre. Kids love them as long
as they also are comical and often friendly monsters like Dan
    May’s wonderful creations.

  • ROUBLE RUST replied

I will find it to read it dear – thank you SO much! You have no idea how much I love this style. It’s my dream really to be able to create a horror book for children – it’s so interesting and fun for me to create fictional characters and situations and imagine without a “target”. I can imagine myself going crazy making a hole book of stories and illustrations!! Oh well! I’m dreaming at loud.
    Thank you dear :)))
All the best to you xx

Ah, arachnphobia. I bet that fea, is as old as time. I can imagine the cavemen getting it, as stings then, were often fatal!
You need to get the vacuum out for that corner, Roula!
Excellent painting. Are these compositions helping with your phobia?

  • ROUBLE RUST replied 5 days ago

No they don’t – I’m not in a clinic level yet :D hehehe. Thank you.
If I was threatened by one I would “manage” it… (you know what I mean…) well.. maybe I’d lost my sleep or see spiders then in my dreams but what the heck?
I can’t tell you with words how much I enjoy to make these facial expressions!!!!!!!!!! Seriously I have the biggest stupid smile on earth when I’m making a fearless face xx I’m happy you like them xx

  • stitchgrin

are you scared of spiders by the way? : ) i love the fear you put in peoples faces on your paintings very very realistic!

  • ROUBLE RUST replied 3 days ago

Oh no… how did you think of that! :D
Thank you so much my friend, it means so much… it’s my biggest pleasure and joy to make these scared faces – gives me a big smile on my face :D
