At the Melbourne Zoo there is obviously someone doing an awesome job of signage and typography. I’ll try and post a few more of the signs that I managed to get shots of from around the place, especially from the Elephant section – but this would have to be my favourite out of the lot. It kind of looks like a Hamster painted like a Tiger.

I do wonder what it says in the other language there too – perhaps the Bubble can help me out with that.

I make things not ugly at Redbubble – hopefully you agree.

I thought you wrote ‘it looks like a hamster painted the tiger’. That would be one talented hamster. Especially if it was also responsible for the Melbourne Zoo’s typography.

  • Perhaps you’re on to something there. Clearly the only way that such superior typographical signage could be created would be through the use of the Hamster Design™ Methodology.

I would very much like to study HDM. If you know of any courses here in the UK, please let me know. I hear the tuition fees are paid in carrots and cheese.

  • Wrong as usual Tyler – you’ll find that I accept cold hard cash for the courses and in turn, I shall (you hope) pass this on to the appropriate Hamster committees who allocate the carrots and cheese accordingly.

Hmmm. I think it says: Richard Hammond School of Art

  • ha – yes, this is highly possible.

It’d be good if it said ’don’t anyone let any pesky tourists in here we need some peace!’ and then just ‘beware tigers!’ in English.

Well I’d think that was good.

  • yes… possibly… maybe… perhaps… sure.
