Phlox paniculata is known by several common names including Perennial Phlox, Fall Phlox, and Garden Phlox because it is often used in gardens. Perennial Phlox is one of our favorite fall flowers often found along streams and in open woods. Phlox paniculata forms colonies often 30 to 36 inches tall covered with showy 1.5 inch rosy-lavender to soft pink flowers. Phlox paniculata is a favorite in the wild garden due to its attractive fall flowers that require little or no maintenance and are often covered with butterflies. Perennial Phlox paniculata is spectacular as a mass in a meadow or open woodland. Phlox paniculata Garden Phlox prefers moist, humus-rich, well-drained soil and full sun or high open shade.

Phlox (flame, blaze) paniculata (Referring to the flower clusters, panicles)
