Brilliant – love your commentary – great work Ruby Red

Thanks guys. I’ve tried to represent the formality of the law enforcers being broken by the freedom of the skateboarder. Simple graphic but hopefully clear message.

Awesome !!! Really great work , and such a great message !

yeah, truly…..police don’t have time and resources to ‘police’ tees, believe me…i grew up with one :D cool design rubyred :D
rubyred replied
Thanks Karin, I bet the police love it when the government create more work for them.

Love this take on the issue. Think the design does a great job of symbolising the ‘heavy-handedness’ of these measures …
rubyred replied
Thanks Natalie, I’m sure the event wont be guarded by SWOT or riot police but in this graphic it helps make a mockery of the laws. but who knows how serious are they, tear gas at the ready? ;)
margpie
brilliant concept, very cool :)
Danny
This is fantastic in its execution and its symbolism.
Thank you for sticking to the spirit of the original challenge, I’ve noticed a hell of a lot of designs have missed the point and have attacked an easier target instead.
You know Roger I thought about this and realised if anyone wore one of those more graphic “slogan” tees there are some nasty people who wouldn’t think twice to rip it off the wearer.
People tend to forget the Pope is spirtial father to the Irish, the Italins, Columbians and shit load of South American Countries who have mean tempers and put this guy high on their “must see before I die ” list. They really don’t want some teenager or 20 something wearing a “fuck the pope” Tee when they’re on their way to accomplaish this.
rubyred replied
I’m with you Danny. Within the context of the challenge I can understand why people have chosen to do the tees they have and as a group of designs there’s a strong message. But take some of those tees in isolation onto the street and they will seem very aggressive and could cause the wearer some very unwanted aggravation. Cheers for the comment Danny.

Great Design.

P.S. I read this teeshirt as nothing to do with WYD.
I read:
Skateboarding = Fun = Life = What 19 year olds should be doing
contrasted against
Soldiers = War = Suffering = What 19 year olds shouldn’t be doing
rubyred replied
Thanks Frank. I’m glad you read that message in the tee. I think you’re right, it symbolizes freedom in the face of rigid sometimes draconian measures. In the case of WYD, it’s freedom of expression against over the top unnecessary law making.
