A montage of Italian experience in the last 12 months.
This series is investigating and exploring all the visual imagery have collected over the last four years. I decided on approaching this through drawing, and drawing in the most open sense mixed media. I’m trying to enjoy my work, keeping a fresh eye on everything, never trying to impose myself on a piece, going with the flow. Keeping it as organic as possible, cut the canvas to fit the idea.
I use Langton 130lb 300gsm Rough watercolour paper. I like the surface, great effects with watercolour and pencil picks up the texture too.

    Cool watercolor Richard…lovely !!!

  • Thank you, I had just come back in October and had this new big brush I had bought in Empoli and had a lot of fun trying to get my brush strokes and layering the paint to build the compositional elements.

Beautiful painting. The roughness of this paper seems to add a glass like appearance to the painting. Could come handy if your ‘Italian experience’ takes you to paining Venetian glass…
