I’m exploring my sketchbooks from two trips to Italy in October 2010 and June 2011. All are in Tuscany and start in a chronological approach to keeping a journal. The sketchbooks are all backed up by my “Happy Snapper” approach to photography. The history and the art are almost instantly visible when in Tuscany. This series of pieces is an attempt to de-cypher the layers of time.
Number 1 is a layered composition using an inkjet transfer print, collage, acrylic and watercolour. The circlular leaf pattern was found on a building in Pisa. Each item has a personal significance in time, whether my history or Tuscan.
