I just went mad with every shade of red and pink on my palette to give this watercolour the impact I wanted!
The original work measures 15″ × 11″ and is painted on Fabriano Artistico extra white watercolour paper using artists quality watercolour paints.
I was awarded SAA Amateur Artist of the Year 2012 for this painting.

I have a passion for watercolours and love to play with colour, exploring the effect of combining pigment and water on the paper. Challenging the traditional view that watercolours are pale and washy, I love vibrant colour used in exciting combinations. I am especially drawn to flowers, their three dimensional forms presenting endless challenges.
I won the SAA Amateur Artist of the Year 2012 for my painting “Cosmic Poppies”.

Haha, just pick a palette and go for it, I know you could! Thanks Lynda, I had a wonderful reference to work with, taken in my garden last summer, after that it was just a case of getting it onto the paper!
