Artist's Description

Load Shiva statue. Shiva is the devine being in Hindu History. This is the explanation of the various items he has on him

1) The snake around the neck – This is to keep his neck cool . During a tassle between the dewas (devine beings) and asuras (the demons) when vish (great venom) was uncovered during the churning of the world, Shiva drank it tt prevent the world getting poisioned with it or asuras getting hold of it. If he sallowed it he would perish, so he holds it near his adams apple.

2)The Trident is his weapon of choice, but also symbolises the trinity (of Shive, Vishnu and Bhrama) as well as the third eye.

3) On top (bun) of his hair, there is a female figure inside. This symbolises Ganges. When there was the big worldwide drought, the gods asked the water goddess to come down to earth (in form of ganges). However the force of the goddes was so strong that it would have shattered the very mantle of the earth. Shiva was the only one who could catach the goddess and let her down gently into the ganges river as it is today.
