Portrait of Tomas #2 by Roz McQuillan

Small oil painting on stretched linen. Tomas has the face of a classical Greek statue, almost too beautiful to capture!
This painting was featured in ‘Symposium of Modern Realists’ and ‘Painters Universe’, and has currently been viewed 223 times.

My style is contemporary whilst firmly rooted in realism. I work in a number of mediums, including pastel, charcoal and conte, pen and ink, gouache, watercolour, acrylics, pencil, photography, and mixed media, and am currently painting in oils. I find that changing and experimenting with mediums keeps me fresh and open to learning. I especially love capturing the human face and figure in oils, and photographing the urban landscape, including the amazing graffiti to be found in Melbourne.

I’d really love to have a go at painting on linen, I know it’s more expensive and I’ve never made up my own frames so it makes me a bit nervous but I would like to learn and have a go at least once. Beautiful work yet again Roz with the sumptuous skin tones and gorgeous natural pose, graceful

  • Thanks so much, Tahnja! Linen is very nice to work on, the paint seems to slip over the surface more easily, worth lashing out on at least once! cheers :)
