All quiet now on Russell Beach, Bay of Islands, New Zealand. by

Russell beach is not a particularly long beach,( about half a mile. ) This southern end is usually a bit quieter. The full length of the beach has these beautiful Pohutukawa trees.
The small sailing boats are for hire.

    Beautiful, looks very peaceful xx

  • Thank you so much Lynn – it was quiet and the grandchildren enjoyed their day somewhere different while I wandered around with the camera !

Super photo Roy and you’ve used the tree to good effect. It looks almost like a quiet tropical hideaway but I suppose it gets very busy at times. I love the way you’ve caught the sun shining on those sails.

  • Many thanks Peter – appreciate your compliments. Yes, it was a beautiful day and the grandchildren enjoyed exploring, eating ice creams and just having a quiet day ! They are back at school now.

Beauty, Roy, very calm and quiet. As they always should be! lol

  • Many thanks David – we visited several beaches that day and they were all reasonable quiet. Grandchildren had fun so everyone was happy !

Lovely scene and capture Roy ~ looks like the perfect place to be :)

  • Thank you very much Susie – I think one thing you would notice in comparison to Lyme Regis is the comparative peace and quite you can have in the middle of summer here except for Christmas and New Year.

  • Thank you so very much Guendalyn – I am so pleased you like my work and thank you for the favourite.
This place was notorious in the 1800’s as a seaport – plenty of sailors and girls !

Now that is what I call a proper beach.
You can take shelter from the hot sun under a tree (essential for a fair skinned pom)

  • I agree with you Mike and straight across the road there are licensed restaurants and the Duke of Marlborough, a lovely old pub !
