Our male resident Tui is all dressed up complete with his cravat and sits waiting for his lady. He wants to see what we have provided for them on the menu today ! Of late they have been nesting in the Totara tree which is part of the tree in the distant background of this photograph. Once again we have not seen any fledglings but this pair are out and about together so we guess they must have finished nesting.
Their song is delightful as they sing to each other. In this photograph you can just see the tip of his tongue and with that long beak, ideal for getting to the nectar in the flowers.
