This photograph was taken at the Royal Air Force Museum at Hendon near London, UK.
The Gloster Gladiator was the last biplane fighter of the RAF, designed as a more advanced successor to the open cockpit Gauntlet Fighter. The prototype of the Galdiator was first flown in Sept. 1934. It entered service with the RAF in Feb. 1937. At this time fighter designs were advancing so fast that the Gladiator was obsolete within a couple of years although it gave staunch service during the earlier war years. It is especially renowned for the three Gladiators, Faith, Hope and Charity that protected the Island of Malta in the Mediterranean against the might of the combined German and Italian Air Forces.

FUJI -S5000 at 8.4mm, 1/0233s, f/2.8, iso 200, Manual.
