Peace at last...............! Paihia, Bay of Islands, New Zealand. by

It is so nice and quiet to stroll along the beach front at Paihia, now that the tourist season is over for another year. This is actually the best time to visit the Bay of Islands without the crowds.

    Beautiful scene Roy… well captured.

  • Thank you so much Andrea – it is a lovely place to live and tell your birds, it’s a great place for a holiday – no snow !

Looks very peaceful Roy! I would so love to visit the Bay of Islands one day. We had our honeymoon in New Zealand nearly 33 years ago now! My how times flies! :o)

  • It is peaceful in the off season Marilyn ! Golly, thirty three years ago – you wouldn’t regocnise NZ now. We actually have sealed roads……lol ! We are coming up for fifty years so I can assure you it has changed since the sixties !

Super photo Roy which, despite the cloud cover, has come out extremely colourful. Is that a lifeboat station? Whatever, it makes a great focal point.

  • Thank you Peter – what do you mean ’ cloud cover ?’ You’ve lived too long in west Oz ! This is a pleasant day in the Bay of Islands and the shed is a boat shed that they hire kayaks and dinghies from.
Agree, it does give the photo a bit of impact – it seems to have crept into quite a few of my photographs.

    Such beautiful work dear Roy.
Living in a holiday resort I know what you mean.
Our season is in full swing at the moment.x

  • Many thanks Catherine – yes, you would know what I mean. We were in Devon/Cornwall in June and July and it was very busy.

Lovely scene and capture Roy ~ such a pretty area and a natural draw for visitors!

  • Thank you so much Susie – it is a natural base for the whole Northland area. Watch this space, I will be strolling along here again in Nov/Dec when all those trees will have lovely red blossoms on them.

Lovely picture, Roy. I heartily agree about the grockles. Please leave your money, but then leave! lol

  • Many thanks David – In the UK on the canals and rivers, the grockles would be call gongoozlers ! They hang over the bridges and get in the way at the locks when you are trying to go through !
