This one is for Andrea who has been at me for ages about setting up a proper bird-feeding station. Well, I’ve gone and done it !
For those who don’t already recognise the bird, it is a Silver Eye – indigenous to New Zealand but also found in SE Australia. It introduced itself to NZ in the mid 1800’s.
Photograph taken on my back deck in Paihia, Bay of Islands. Not the ideal spot mid-winter but in the summer months I should have the sun around to this side of the house for at least half the day.
