Sometime ago I told Andrea – she of the beautiful South Island of New Zealand bird fame – that I had a regular visit from a pair of Kingfishers. Andrea’s reply was ’ She’d love to see a photo.’ Well, I am still trying. They are such nervous birds that it is difficult to get close enough for a good photo.
My new lens ( 100 × 300mm) for my Lumix GH2 arrives next week so we shall be trying again. In the meantime, I have taken two photographs, one of the elusive bird and one of a tree branch, have married them togather and digitally painted them. The original had the bird sitting on our rotary clothesline – their favourite perch – but I don’t think that makes for an attractive photograph. ORG – photo can be seen by viewing full description.
Location – My garden, Paihia, Bay of Islands, New Zealand.
