’ Somewhere over the Rainbow, skies are blue ’ but not here at the moment !
This was a double rainbow but by the time I found the camera and set it up, we were down to just the one ! Incidentally, the trees below the rainbow are on what is called ’ Rainbow Ridge.’

Photograph taken from my back garden at Te Haumi Heights, Paihia, Bay of Islands, New Zealand.

Panasonic Lumix GH2 at 41mm, 1/2500, f/8, iso 320, mode Manual.
From a single RAW image.

Nice Roy! The colors are so bright and vivid.

  • Great comments John, I am just loving this new Lumix GH2 with the 14×140 lens and will be buying a 100×300 lens in about a months time for the birds.

A real beauty Roy and I’m glad you were able to find your camera in time to capture this. I often do exactly the same – spot a scene and then have to hunt around the house for my camera – and then invariably find that the battery needs changing! LOL

    Regards
    Peter

  • Touche’ Peter – I do exactly the same, find the batteries are flat ! Thank you for your great comments.

l love rainbows, don’t see very many, you better start searching for that crock of gold xx

  • Thank you kindly Lynn – they do make for a pretty picture ! We get quite a few because of the surrounding hills and close proximity to the sea. We get those pockets of warm and cold airs with the frequent rain showers.

What a beautiful capture dear Roy and an instant fave.x

  • Thank you so much Catherine both for your lovely comments and the favourite. I have I think, a much better rainbow taken from our back deck – if you want to click on my page and then click Bay of Islands, NZ.

Now…. if that pot of gold was at the end of this, I would move to your part of the world tomorrow…?

  • Many thanks Larry – you and millions of others, you’d just have to get there before me !

Actually Roy, if you look really closely you will sere there is a second rainbow is right inside the first; very feint but it is there.

  • My apologies for not replying sooner, I nearly missed it ! There was a second rainbow but your eyesight is better than mine as I had to go back to the original and enlarge it before I could see it !
Maybe a trip to the optician is called for…..lol ! Roy

t is possible all rainbows have that second little one tucked right inside. It is the first time I have noticed it, so I will join the queue behind you at Specsavers……lol
