The Eastern Rosella was introduced to New Zealand from Eastern Australia from escaped caged birds.
Distribution and Habitat – Common in native bush from the centre of the North Island to the Far north, also the Upper Hutt Valley near Wellington and in Dunedin in the South Island.
The tree the bird is perched in is a Silver Birch also introduced, The Rosella loves the lambs tail seeds.
