william wallace monoument stirling bridge battle 1297 castle scotland
Cracking shot Roy,often passed it and thought it was a tower from the Lord of the Rings
Cheers Jamie – I’ll take that with a pinch of salt ! I’m sure you knew what Willie Wallaces monument was !We have a friend here called William Wallace and last year when he had his first overseas trip we sent him to see this. The last we heard, he put in a claim under the Treaty of Waitangi (NZ) for Stirling Castle and the pie cart in Sauchihall St ( spelling ?) He was arrested and sadly we haven’t heard from him since…..lol !
thats a beauty roy ,were you in a helicopter! where was your view point, cheers mike
No Mike, we were standing on the ramparts of Stirling Castle. Naughty boy, stay after class ! You haven’t been paying attention to Mr R.B’s ’orrible new format where half your write-up is cut off ! Thank you for your kind words and favourite Sir.
MAGNIFICENT CAPTURE, ROY ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Thank you very much Vanessa – I do appreciate kind comments ! i was quite pleased with the result as the zoom lens was wound out to near its maximum !
Super picture, Roy! Just a minute, don’t you live in NZ? You’re lost! lol
Yes we do David and no I’m not….lol! Diving into the bottom of the basket for this one dating back to 2007. It’s marvellous what you can find. Thank you for the kind comments.
spectacular scene !
Many thanks Charmiene – we just loved our Scottish visit in 2007.
Magnificent capture Roy. We’ve been there a couple of times but it was hissing it down both times so never seen it at it’s best….. Until now.
Your wonderful comments greatfully received Colin – it was rather a good day at Stirling. The time before that was on a coach trip and the tour guide wasn’t even going to stop – it was only the threat of a mutinythat she finally relented. We got one 30 sewcond photo taken from the road with half the castle in scaffolding. Needless to say, at the end of the tour she got our loose change in the tips envelope….lol !
Oops! Thank you for the favourite as well Colin.
WoW ! – this is so beautiful Roy ..wonderful capture ! – love it !!
Thank you very much Gail, for the lovely comments and the favourite ! It was a beautiful day and the light was on the hills behind the monument. You’d have to be a sassenach not to click off one photo !
Fantastic capture Roy and looks great viewed larger.Myra
Many thanks Myra – it looked so right viewed from Stirling Castle, overlooking the site of Wallace’s greatest battle at Stirling Bridge.
