Photo taken on a rather wet day.
The ferry “Kea” has plied her trade across Auckland’s Waitemata harbour from the downtown business area to Devonport on the North shore of Auckland since 1988 for the Fuller’s ferry company. With a speed of 10.2 knots she was a vast improvement on the old wooden ferries. Mostly taken for granted over the years, but on the comparitively rare instances when something did happened and she was late or did not arrive – but then hey, she’s a lady and that’s a lady’s perogative!
Kea is the large brown and green South Island parrot noted for it’s cheekiness – don’t park your car for too long or your window rubber will have been pulled out and your radio aerial re-designed !
They also love wiper blades….lol !
