This young Pohutukawa tree is clinging precariously to life and the cliff face but knowing how hardy these trees are, it will probably be there in two or three hundred years hence.
The Pohutukawa is also known as the New Zealand Christmas tree due to the fact that it flowers between Nov/Dec every year. It has the loveliest bright red needle flowers growing in clusters.
