The Te Haumi River is about two km’s south of Paihia where we live in the Bay of Islands, New Zealand. The river is tidal at this point and you can see the mangroves lining the shore. I have seen grey Heron and Kingfisher in abundance along this part of the river.
My house would be just the other side of those trees at the end of the rather faint rainbow although I did run home after taking this picture and ransacked the house to unfortunately find there was no pot of gold ! I still have only $3.50 and two brass washers.

Well damn, that means you’ve got $3.50 and one brass washer more than me! LOL Lovely picture, Roy!

  • Thanks for your comment David – just shows, we’ll have to keep saving !

Great shot Roy. Sorry you did not find your pot of gold, have you looked down the back of the sofa?

  • I was always told that pot of gold was elusive Colin, now I know ! Thank you for commenting.

This is so beautiful Roy, Wow what a wonderful capture.

  • Many thanks Andrea – I drive past this spot every time we go out in the car, I should take the camera more often and try for some of the bird life along the mangroves.

    Beautiful shot Roy.

  • Cheers Steve – one thing that amuses us is the amount of tourists you see taking photos of mangroves and now I am starting to see that maybe they are right.

Gold ~ must be imported leprechauns. Whoever is responsible for this, kudos. Great shot, Roy.

  • Thanks Sheila and the only leprechaun I know round here is Heather and she steals all my gold !(Roy) What rubbish…Lol! (Heather)

Great refections and fantastic timing to get the rainbow!

  • Timing – you are right Shaun, I took a couple of photos from here then wandered up a way and passed that spot again half an hour later and there was the rainbow. Thank you for the comments.
