You wouldn’t have liked the next day Gary….we were hammered in
the Pilot boat but still had to do three ships.

There is a lighthouse near us called the Wyre light, which was almost identical to the one you have shown, unfortunately thee as a fire some years ago and it has been left in disrepair, I will show a piccie when o get chance Great shot by the way Roy
Thanks Jason – if your lighthouse was like this one it was all wood
Thank you Barbara. You wonder how the lighthouse keeper and all his family managed to live in that tiny area.

Hi Roy, our lighthouse was all solid metal, apart from the house on the top, which is the bit that burn’t… Here’ is how it once looked Here is a link to some info on our lighthouse Wyre light
Jason, I may have misled you, Bean Rock also had metal legs and wooden house, but legs were set directly into the rock called Bastion Reef.
Oh, these look like the squaty light houses we have on the Cheaspeake Bay here in Maryland.. I didn’t realize other countries had them too.
Thank you for commenting Mary – yes, I was surprised when I first posted this photo to find just how many more of this type are scattered rounds the world. When I first joined the Auckland Harbour Board back in the late 1960’s one of our jobs was to service this lighthouse.

Interesting image. We have some screwpile lighthouses here in the Chesapeake Bay, Maryland USA. …Hope
lifted off Bean Rock by a floating crane, legs and all. It was placed on a wharf, completely restored and returned to said rock.
