This lock is one of four in a staircase ( altogether ) in Northamptonshire on the Grand Union Canal, England. The boat behind is waiting to descend after we have cleared the lock our narrowboat is in and empty the water so the lock gate can be opened. The Grand Union Canal was built in the 1800’s to join the coal fields of Birmingham with London.
