OH Roy One of my passions What stories it could tell first class capture young Man

  • Many thanks Malcolm – they are dear to my heart too as I once owned a Dexter when we lived on Great Barrier Island. We used to tow the boat down to the beach with it. Check out my calendar for some more of these old vehicles – no pressure to buy……..lol !

  • By the way Malcolm, seeing as it’s your passion, check my comment to Greybeard.

lets see you restore it Roy lol xx

  • I would if it was mine Lynn – we used to have one of these named ’ Daisy ’ and I painted a white daisy on it’s blue bonnet ! It sat in the open for years and never failed to start.

Shame to see the condition its in Roy, but it makes for a great picture and you certainly did it justice, Terry

  • Many thanks Terry – we used to own a Ford Dexter when we lived on Gt. Barrier Island and used it to tow our 6.5mtr boat down to the beach. It was, as far as the UK is concerned, a very rare beastie. it had a petrol engine, the same engine as the old Standard Vanguard had. They were only made that way for Scandinavia, Oz & NZ. It did sadden me to see the condition of this one.

Heather told me that it reminds her of your condition after you’ve been at the Bourbon. Sorry mate, couldn’t resist it. Nice shot of a fantastic old machine that probably worked its guts out for years and years. Cheers. Tony.

  • I’m back to the wine now Tony – not bourbon as I can’t afford $38 ( eighteen pounds ) a bottle ! ( the last bourbon was a gift ) We owned a Dexter like this when at Barrier in fact it looked like this – it was out in the open salt air and yet never failed to start ! I sometimes went shopping on it – great, German Shepherd on the hydraulic platform on the back and the platform was large enough for all that booze…..!?

Great find and capture Roy ~ I love those old tractors :)

  • Many thanks Susie – so do I ! I noticed the farmer has thinned out the number of tractors he has there now – the farm is on the market ! I do hope they have gone to a better home.

This is a beauty Roy, they worked so hard shame to see them left like this. Leon has been working on his dear old ‘Fergy" (no disrespect) this week. It just keeps on going. I’ll have to put his pic up again!

  • Many thanks Rita – men and their toys eh ! Yep, would like to see his ’ Fergy ’ again !

Don’t we just love rust? Great capture Roy

  • Many thanks David – there is something about a rusty old vehicle I just can’t resist photographing. Some of it is sadness at seeing it just lying there dying….!
