The Fort Augustus Locks are quite a busy place at times. It is part of the Caledonian Canal which transits through the Great Glen from one side of Scotland to the other. As you can see from the image, yachts and other rather large craft use the system – it saves a dangerous trip around the northern tip of Scotland. The smaller launch ahead of the yachts is Edzel Castle, the launch we hired for a week. in 2007.
Location: Fort Augustus, Caledonian Canal, Great Glen, Scotland.

I bet you were seasick not used to being on the water and that Heather had to look after you, hold you steady while you took this shot of the Loch’s lock. ( sounds like a stutter ). Nice shot Roy. By the way, heard you saw Nessie after a few large Bourbons. Cheers. Tony.

  • Thanks for your comment Tony. Actually going down to Fort Augustus. Loch ness was quite rough ! I have a photograph of the monster we saw……lol ! Seasick, the only time in my life and all my years at sea I was only seasick once and that was when we were living at Gt. Berrier Island – I had a party of people out on our fishing charter boat and the berlie went out a little too early…..ha ha ! Most embarrassing, this was after a party the night before.

Great capture Roy ~ it does look like a busy place :)

  • Thank you Susie – we were there in June which I guess is one of the busiest months.
