The nannies have wheeled all their pushers away
Not even a nosy dog chances to stray
Out in this eerie fog

No child runs past with mates on their heels
No old people rugged up and pushed in their wheels
No lovers on rugs surreptitiously feels
Pretending to hug in the sun

Tis a cold winter’s morning and damp is the air
Birds are still hiding their wings and their prayer
My feet make no noise as they climb the stone stair
Not my poise but the muffling fog

It is quiet and lonely on this blanketed path
With only empty benches to watch as I pass
I yearn for the warmth of a cheery hearth
When I return to my family’s love

Love it!

I love everything about this shot. For me the true magic comes from the presence of the second bench being at a slight angle from an otherwise straight row. I feel it depicts the imperfections of true beauty. A wonderful piece of work Roy.

Thanks mimi. I often enjoy my own company and being “alone”. I don’t enjoy lonliness however- I think that we are not designed to be by ourselves for too long or isolated, we are “social beasts”, afterall.

Autumn mornings, with mist lying heavy on the ground and the damp fug of wet leaves being burned on garden bonfires, while the malevolent signature of a crows’ carillion drifts through the chilly air.

Hi David. This shot was taken in Llandudno, North Wales at about 3pm in the afternoon, just as some serious sea mist rolled into town. It was just one of those perfect “right place, right time” moments and I have to say that i’m really happy with the result.
