There’s no cheering the game on today
The nannies have wheeled all their pushers away
Not even a nosy dog chances to stray
Out in this eerie fog
No child runs past with mates on their heels
No old people rugged up and pushed in their wheels
No lovers on rugs surreptitiously feels
Pretending to hug in the sun
Tis a cold winter’s morning and damp is the air
Birds are still hiding their wings and their prayer
My feet make no noise as they climb the stone stair
Not my poise but the muffling fog
It is quiet and lonely on this blanketed path
With only empty benches to watch as I pass
I yearn for the warmth of a cheery hearth
When I return to my family’s love
♥
See what your awesome art draws from me?

And where was this taken? Liandudno – and when the fog lifts – it all becomes so clear x
roybarry replied
Indeed yes-Llandudno, a great place to have the fog cleared from your eyes and taking the first steps into the rest of your life.

Recurring patterns are always a wonderful subject but the addition of the fog is excellent, well done Roy.
roybarry replied
Thanks Barssel- I agree about the interest in patterns and I was so lucky to be in the right place at the right time with the rolling bank of sea mist.

Fantastic work
roybarry replied
Kathy, thank you.
Matthew Nicholson
I love everything about this shot. For me the true magic comes from the presence of the second bench being at a slight angle from an otherwise straight row. I feel it depicts the imperfections of true beauty. A wonderful piece of work Roy.
roybarry replied
Matthew, thanks for such a great comment. nice to meet you.
Ursula Rodgers
Just love this Roy. Great perspective and I love how the line of benches leads you eye right in, only for them to disappear in the fog.
roybarry replied
Thanks Ursula. I have to admit that I was amazed to just see this scene, just sitting there waiting for me to wander along, camera in hand.
Christine Wilson

this is makes me happy, because i love the fog almost as much as the rain…
it also makes me sad but beautifully sad… lonely and romantic at once… i do enjoy being alone and lonely at times…
beautiful capture, roy… : )
roybarry replied
Thanks mimi. I often enjoy my own company and being “alone”. I don’t enjoy lonliness however- I think that we are not designed to be by ourselves for too long or isolated, we are “social beasts”, afterall.
Christopher E...
amazing image, love your perspective on this, excellent lead for the eye and exposure on this shot
roybarry replied
Thanks Mr E. This really was one of those shots you dream about-it was just there, waiting to be caught. The moment I saw it through the viewfinder, I knew that it was the shot of the day.

Autumn mornings, with mist lying heavy on the ground and the damp fug of wet leaves being burned on garden bonfires, while the malevolent signature of a crows’ carillion drifts through the chilly air.

Hi David. This shot was taken in Llandudno, North Wales at about 3pm in the afternoon, just as some serious sea mist rolled into town. It was just one of those perfect “right place, right time” moments and I have to say that i’m really happy with the result.

Manuel Rodrigues
The fog add a lot of mood to the image. Perfect in BW.
roybarry replied
Manuel, thank you so much for your visit and comments. Much appreciated.
Stuart Chapman
A very autumnal feel to this shot in a stifling hot summer Mr B. This conjures images of early morning walks in the park and filling your lungs with a blast of fresh air before it all gets clogged up with pollution.
