The Kingdoms of Man

In the passing of time
of steel and the merciless hand
shall we be remembered?
In our thirst for the black blood,
in our hunger for what dazzles the eye
but that we cannot eat,
in the gathering unto ourselves of paper and power
and such that we think we own
but instead owns us
For what we have done to ourselves
in pursuit of these
shall we be forgiven of our sins?

While in the shadows we run and hide,
in all the kingdoms of man
where shall we find refuge?
For inside the walls we have built around ourselves
we shall not be safe from what we have locked within

And hence, when what we have known is no more,
when the wind has blown us wide
and the waters have swept us away
the power of creation,
the constant remaking of all that is
shall take up that which remains, blend anew
and roll forth what must begin again
Thus shall we be forgiven and in the dwindling of memory,
shall we be forgotten.
