Are You Okay With This?

Check out the “…red, red swoon” in Vampire Within by Parmi aka Andrew.

RoyAllenHunt February 6, 2009

When you followed me to this secluded place you expected a dance in my cold embrace. You sought romance beneath a silvered moon. Now you’re caught here in my red, red swoon. I can feel you flow into me. With each pulse you taste so sweet. As you surrender your soul to me, all your visions become mine to see.

Are you okay with this?
It is much more than just a kiss
What you were you will be no more
If I take now what was once yours

You’re confused and you’re feeling dazed. You can feel your being slip away. If you desire, I can make it all end. But if you need I can make something new begin. My thoughts ask only this of you, let seep into me the answer you choose. Do I let you loose
or return your reworked essence back to you?

Are you okay with this?
It is much more than just a kiss
Will you sleep your final sleep
Or come awake a hungry beast?

If you choose I’ll show you things you’ve never seen before. I’ll teach you all you need to know. I’ll show you how to rule the night. Your only enemies will be thirst and daylight.

If ever of me you tire, should you no longer wish to roam, then you are free to sire one of your very own. You’re free to leave me again all alone.

Fantastic poetry Roy!! I’m just finishing the “Twilight” series by Stephenie Meyer!!
The vampire deciding whether to feed or make a companion for himself!! :)

  • Thank you Kreesor. I haven’t read any of the “Twilight” series. I have read all of the Anne Rice tales. This poem I wrote after an episode of “Moonlight” with Alex O’Loughlin, currently on the SciFi channel.

Your poetry is quite fluid and descriptive…great story in verse.

I like the fact that the vampire was giving his vic the choice, and the oppertunity to leave after.

Wonderfully written, but I must confess any image of a vampire was only presented to me in the comments.

From begining to end I felt I was following a young man with a young woman keen to lose her virginity. But instead of the clumsy first experience she expected – the cold embrace – she instead recieves something altogether different, addictive and promising.

I can also relate to the promise to let her go at any time too. We may all choose to be entangled in life with other souls, but we do it so much better when we know we can be free again at any point.

    Great work.

  • Wow! Your interpretive powers are impressive. Thank you for your understanding.

I agree with Tony totally, I was given the impression at the beginning at least, of a man wooing a young woman into her first sexual experience – maybe Tony and I just have dirty minds lol. Wonderful writing and for the record the last two lines gave me the vampire connection, great stuff!

I love this, it is such a great telling of how a vampire would convince his or her next victim to turn. I agree with the above comments too, it’s not obviously about a vampire, until you reach certain lines. Greatly subversive in that way. Very well done my friend!
