Drawing in charcoal, conte crayon, colored pencils and pastel on 18 X 24 Canson drawing paper.

I heard the music of Kevin & beginning guitarist K. I asked if I could write and record lyrics and melody. They gave their kind permission and the song was born. As ekphrasis goes it just rolled forth into this image and into the video. Not a perfect fit but I like it.

Thru the shadows
Music by Kevin & Kelsey ©2010
Words & melody by RoyAllenHunt ©2010

Thru the shadows
Is there something sweet kept in there?
Will it be something that I can share?
Or will it bring something cold
dark and forbidding as I go?
With the sun shining from the front
From behind here they come

Thru the shadows mystery resides
Who can ever tell what those shadows hide?
The only thing that stems the shadows’ tide
Is when the sun finally retires

Thru the shadows something broods
Keeping step with my every move
Speaking to it sometimes serves to soothe
As I keep trying to elude

But even in the dark of night
Though their nowhere in sight
I know the shadows wait for the light

Thru the shadows something follows I don’t know
Something follows as I go…

  • Thanks so much for the feature. I’m sure that K & K will be as pleased as I am. Thanks to them as well for allowing me to work this piece from their music.

Love the title, love the bright narrow way, love the arragement, and love the perspective! Great work! Really really great!

  • Thank you Jatro for that great comment.
