Rembrant White Pastel pencil on Reeves Black Paper A3
I considered Graphite on white paper, or even charcoal on white paper, but I figured, “Why not make it easier and do the reverse – white on black?” as the predominant colour was black anyway.
I think the decision paid off, and I enjoy this style, filling in the light instead of darkening the shadows. It keeps me interested!
This was my first attempt with this style.

great I love the pastel on the black and have used black paper myself for my first few attempts at pastel ….but still not sure what brand of paper is best or pastels!
I’m not really sure on the pastel brands myself as I’m pretty new to pastels, but I’ve found that reeves paper is pretty reliable
