After much consideration, I have removed 10 pages of my artwork. I felt that it was way too crowded with mediocre pieces and I will try to keep it down to 3 pages.
My apologies to any who had favoured some of my stuff that I have deleted.
:) x

I agree – I’m going to take a severe eye over my rb work!
RoughDiamond replied
It was rather liberating Ian.

thanks for leaving my favorite there!... (feel the heat)
RoughDiamond replied
No worries. Anything I sold I have left on.

I’m planning to do the same pretty soon – got rid of some last week.
PS Did my back-up too

Good stuff. The good thing is, I can re-work some of my pieces and upload them as brand new wazoo art at another time!
David Meacham
Exactly – there’s some stuff in my gallery that I think is good but I uploaded it when I was a dribbly new boy and it mostly got ignored plus I’ve learned a thing or two in the last few months so there’s improvements to be made.
Hope you haven’t deleted George!

George is gone … sorry

PF looking good RD!
I did this just recently too. Went from 6 pages to just 3, almost 50%, and the folio looks much better for it. Very liberating as you say.
I did this partly in response to taking the 10% challenge and also from the results of asking a few friends, (external to RB), to view some different artist’s portfolios here, including mine. I found the general consensus was that they really only viewed the first 3-4 pages of a portfolio, also perhaps the last page if there were more, but any more than this became overwhelming, the consensus being that they lost interest. Plus, most stated they had found, what they considered, ‘the better works’ in the first few pages anyway. It was a helpful little exercise.
I’d love to be able to keep everyone’s comments, that is an unfortunate trade off, but on the other hand I’m not really concerned about collecting number of views. I always find myself a tad amused when I read “Wow! just reached 40,000 views” only to find the portfolio in question has a total of 20-30 pages of work, equating to around 600 images, (no kidding). How does anyone manage a pf this big?
It’s all relative I guess, but for me it’s definitely become more about quality than quantity.
RoughDiamond replied
So true lumi. Thanks for the comment. I think if I’d kept going I would have had 50 pages of works! I also do that with other people, I look at their folio, I try to look at all of it to be fair but then get kind of lost in it all. I’m glad I did this :) x

Poor George. That’s sad.
You’re just getting your own back because I’m sending Diamond Flower to America :-)
RoughDiamond replied
America of all countries. You could have picked somewhere exotic like Australia!

I’m just working my way up to the top

It’s a good idea even though I have only just started – how do you make the decisions on which to remove and which to keep? On my personal web page I display a max of 16 pictures on the front page and have archives if people want to view previous galleries but I think 16 is a good number per category.
RoughDiamond replied
I decided that any photo that had been sold, had more than 150 views and/or 5 favs was staying. Anything not fitting that was going.
hardhhhat
Thanks ;o) I haven’t sold anything yet so a long way for me to go….
RoughDiamond replied
:) Stick with it and you’ll do fine.
